Ya’axché works closely with the communities of the Golden Stream Landscape especially those that buffer the Golden Stream Corridor Preserve and the Bladen Nature Reserve.  These five communities are Golden Stream, Indian Creek, Medina Bank, Trio, and Bladen.

These communities have input into the direction of the protected areas through advisory committees.  They also benefit from Ya’axché’s integrated approach which promotes eco-friendly alternative livelihoods to slash and burn agriculture such as cacao farming technical support, promotion of organic vegetables, and agroforestry assistance including fruit trees and hardwood species.

Each community is unique and offers a great deal of traditional knowledge.  Together we form the Golden Landscape Community.
