Christina Garcia holds an Associate Degree in Natural Resource Management from the University of Belize. She has extensive experience in developing protected areas management plans; in designing and delivering environmental programmes; she worked as a field biologist and as project manager. She currently works at a local conservation organization as an Outreach and Education Programme Director. She lives in San Pedro Columbia Village, Toledo District.

Alfonso Cal is a highly respected Maya leader and one of the founder of Ya’axché, in the past he has held both the position of; Alcalde and Chairman of his community. He is a farmer and an indigeneous rights activist. He currently chairs Toledo Maya Cultural Council. He lives in Golden Stream Village, Toledo District.

Barbara Locke holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Finance from St Thomas University, Florida. She was the Banking and Currency Manager at the Central of Belize; her most recent position was as Manager of Finance and Administration for the Social Invest Fund a Caribbean Development Bank and EU funded facility. She presently freelances as a consultant. She presently lives in Dangriga, Stann Creek District.

Adrian Mas is presently the Alcalde of Indian Creek and works full-time as a farmer and care-taker of Nim Li Punit Archaelogical Site. He has worked as a ranger and site guide for a lodge. He lives in Indian Creek Village, Toledo.

Robert Bensted-Smith holds a Ph.D. from Cambridge University. He is currently the Regional Director for Fauna & Flora International Americas and Caribbean Progamme. He has the Director for Conversation International Andes Programmee; was the Director of the Charles Darwin Research Station where he tripled the annual budget to US$ 4.4 million; he was a Chief Advisor to the Department of the Environment in Zanzibar, he worked extensively in policy development and planning for the Kenya Wildlife Service and was instrumental in the establishment of a “Community Wildlife Service. He was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to environmental conservation. He is British and presently lives in Ecuador

Lisel Alamilla has been the Executive Director for Ya'axché Conservation Trust since October, 2008, prior to this position she was the Belize country manager of Fauna & Flora International. She holds a Master’s Degree in Resource, Recreation & Tourism from the University of Idaho. She has worked in the NGO sector for 15 years and has been involved in various advocacy campaigns. In 2010 she was awarded the Conservation Leadership Award from the Marsh Foundation in the UK.
